GREEN Webinar: Learning from a Climate Justice Club Pilot

This presentation will explore a two-year pilot in Nepal with secondary-aged girls who participated in Room to Read’s Climate Justice Club. The presentation will cover considerations to develop climate literacy + gender justice tools in a context like Nepal and with secondary girls and the emerging relationships between climate literacy and life skills.
Meet the presenters:
Fernanda Gandara is a PhD. In Psychometric Methods, Educational Statistics, and Research Methods. She works in International Education, designing, implementing and overseeing the Research, Monitoring and Evaluation efforts to support Room to Read’s Girls’ Education and Gender Equality Portfolio. Her research and practice are oriented to improve evaluation and assessment practices in the Global South, particularly concerning gender and language issues. She also collaborates as a methodologist with colleagues in other fields
Abie Spangler is an intersectional feminist with over ten years of experience in gender mainstreaming, gender-based violence prevention and response, youth development, and inclusive development. As the Associate Director, Girls’ Education and Gender Equality, she is responsible for strategic direction, technical guidance, and support to Room to Read’s girls’ education and gender equality programs and custom projects in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Africa. Prior to joining Room to Read, Abie supported gender mainstreaming with programs and projects in the agriculture and health sectors. She worked in Malaysia, providing humanitarian aid to Rohingya refugees, and in Peru as a youth development specialist, working alongside the Peruvian Ministry of Education to design educational programs to support youth to stay in school and graduate from secondary school.
